BioActive Dehydration™:
More About the Process
When drying botanicals, the primary
causes of natural essence degradation are high temperatures,
oxygen exposure
(oxidization), and duration of exposure to destructive forces.
However, heat is by far the most critical factor.
BioActive
Dehydration™ offers the solution to all three
of these problems. As illustrated in Figure 1, with the BioActive
Dehydration™ process, the product temperature never exceeds
106ºF (41ºC) and is above body temperature (98.6ºF) for less
than 2 minutes. This graph illustrates exact and estimated temperatures (ºC)
versus time for Barley juice.
Results vary slightly with different products.

Figure 1
Many components of a botanical’s natural
essence are more vulnerable when the product is wet than
when the
product is dry. Water is a necessary catalyst for most
biochemical reactions, including heat degradation. BioActive
Dehydration™is a delicate process designed to be
the coolest when the product is wet.
Figure 2 below illustrates
that LiquaDry’s juice powder reaches it’s maximum
temperature when it has a very low 8% moisture.
This
graph illustrates exact and estimated product temperature
versus moisture for barley juice.
Results vary slightly with different products.

Figure 2 With the BioActive Dehydration™ process the product
temperature never exceeds 106ºF (41ºC) and exceeds body
temperature (98.6ºF) for less than 2 minutes. BioActive
Dehydration™ incorporates proprietary OxyGuard™,
which involves an inert gas that shields the product from
oxygen during most of the drying process.
